Where Have I Been? — My Temporary Relocation to Canada and What It’s Taught Me

Updated: Oct 11

Hey friends,

It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? If you’ve been wondering where I disappeared to or why the updates slowed down, well… here’s a little life update: I temporarily relocated to Canada. This move was prompted by family; sometimes life just shifts in ways you don’t expect, and you roll with it.

I’m feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety about this new chapter. A new environment always brings with it new possibilities, and that sense of “what’s next” is both thrilling and a little nerve-wracking. The plan is to stay here until the end of 2025, so it’s not permanent, but it’s enough time to really settle in and soak things up.

The good news? I’ve visited Canada often enough before, so there wasn’t much culture shock. But every time I’m here, I’m reminded of the breathtaking beauty of this country. Honestly, it feels like God was showing off when He made Canada: the landscapes, the lakes, the vast skies. It’s a kind of beauty that feeds both the mind and the soul.

I’m still figuring out how this experience is influencing me creatively. Writing-wise, I’m not sure yet if this will spark new ideas or a shift in style, but I do know the environment is good for my mental and physical health. Sometimes, that peace of mind is the foundation you need before creativity can really flow.

So, what’s next? I’m taking things one day at a time. I’m embracing the change, open to what this time abroad will reveal about me and my path. For now, I’m just grateful for the chance to pause, breathe, and be in a place that feels both new and familiar.

Thanks for sticking with me. I’m excited to share more soon: stories, thoughts, maybe even some fresh writing inspired by this Canadian chapter. And hey, I’d love to hear from you, have you ever had a “where have you been” moment or a move that changed your perspective?

Until next time,

A.L. Ember
